A "Champange Birthday"

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Although under correct circumstances I was 4 years old when I had my real "Champagne Birthday"...that's OK because from now on I will always remember my 25th Birthday as my Champagne Birthday...and thats because it was a day full of all things sparkling.

Champagne surprise number one...travelled near and far and made a trip across the country to make its way into my  glass (which it barley did). I had never heard of Jacquesson Champagne and now I will never forget it. Jacquesson is a 212 year old Champagne House in the northern most tip of Champagne, France. It's non-vintage and therefore the cuvĂ©e is a mix of both present and past vintages in order for the end result to be the best possible champagne. For traditional method, this wine was extremely tropical and fruity and my editor actually said there were hints of vanilla..

Then...my eye caught something pink and I may or may not have screamed in excitement. I had "blogged" about Piper-Heidsicek before and specifically about their Rose Sauvage they did in partnership with Viktor & Rolf. Well...I had the  Rose Sauvage by Piper-Heidsieck. It was nothing less than a glass of pink perfection. And the bottle will be kept with me for the rest of my life...and in my will, I will leave the bottle to Kara Patrunick.
